The museum is housed in the old cells of the Monastery of the Assumption, and its collections include kitchenware from church life.
Exhibits dating from the 18th to the 20th century and are the treasure of the Virgin Mary monastery.
Standing out is the icon Rhodes Amarantos which is dated around 1774.

Located next to the Merchant Marine Academy, founded in 1918.
In the area there are the Archive Department where are stored materials related to the history, tradition and culture of Hydra, the Museum Department where are heirlooms of Balkans and World Wars as well as exhibits on the War of 1821 and the Library which includes about 4000 books and many of them are dated on the 18th century, while the second floor there is a conference room.
